Q: What is psychotherapy?
A: Psychotherapy helps you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviour impact your actions. With this understanding, we can start to make changes that reduce distress and improve overall wellbeing.

Q: How much does therapy cost?

A: My standard rate is $150 for individual and couple sessions, and $175 for parenting sessions. Each session is 50 minutes. Please inquire about sliding scale rates.

Q: Is therapy covered by OHIP?

A: No, therapy is not covered by OHIP. My services are covered by health benefit plans that cover Registered Psychotherapists. Please check with your benefit plan to see if you have coverage for my services. I do not bill insurance companies directly. I will submit an invoice to you after a session and once you submit payment by Interac e-transfer, I will send you a receipt that you can submit to your provider.

Q: How often do we meet?

A: That depends on you. Often, people start with weekly sessions. At the 3rd session, we check in to see how we want to continue. Some people prefer to meet weekly, biweekly, or monthly for check-ins.

Q: Where do we meet?

A: Currently, all services are being offered virtually to residents of Ontario.

Q: How long does therapy last?

A: Again, this depends on you. Sometimes people need some support to get through a specific situation and once it’s passed, we are done our work together, sometimes in as few as 4-6 sessions. Other times, people want to spend more time processing the past and stay in therapy longer. You can choose to end therapy at any time and resume at a future date if you choose.

Q: How do I know if you are right for me?
A: You won’t until we talk! After our initial 15-minute complimentary phone consult, you can let me know if you want to continue. If not, I will do my best to connect you with someone who you feel might be a better fit.

Q: What is your training?

A: In addition to an M.A. in Counseling Psychology, I have training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Individual Therapy for trauma (EFIT), Emotion Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT),  Emotion Focused FamilyTherapy (EFFT), mindfulness approaches, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).

Q: How do I make an appointment?
A: Please fill out the contact us form on the website.
